August 16, 2016

James "Jim" Woodcock, one of our beloved funeral assistants, traveled to Washington, D.C. on Aug. 16 as part of the Honor Flight program. A Navy veteran of the Korean War, Jim has been with our funeral home for about 30 years. He is a member of St. Stephens Catholic Church and has always been active in the Caseyville community. He is a true gentleman, and we at Herr are very proud that he will be one of the brave service members to take this special tour.

Land of Lincoln Honor Flight provides Central Illinois veterans (WWII, Korean and Vietnam Era) an opportunity to visit the memorials built in honor of their service and sacrifice. The Land of Lincoln Honor Flight covers all expenses for the one-day trips, including flight, ground transportation, meals/snack, and beverages. They also provide trained volunteers to assist and accompany veterans on their flight. For more info, please visit landoflincolnhonorflight.org, or honorflight.org to find an Honor Flight hub nearest you.
